The GIANTS have entered into an agreement with the Parramatta City Council to strengthen community ties and provide a framework for an ongoing partnership.

The GIANTS today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Council that states how both organisations can work together to better promote Parramatta and its sporting community.

Parramatta Council also re-signed a similar agreement with the NRL's Parramatta Eels and is close to finalising the details of a new partnership with A-League club, the Western Sydney Wanderers.

All stakeholders were on hand to make the announcement at Centenary Square in Parramatta today.

GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews said the partnership would help the GIANTS and the Council achieve a series of positive community outcomes.

"The partnership between the GWS Giants and the City of Parramatta highlights the common goal of bringing elite-level sport to Western Sydney and driving significant outcomes for the broader Western Sydney community," Matthews said.

"Parramatta is a genuine destination for elite-level sport and forms an integral part of the Giants community focus throughout Western Sydney."

Parramatta Council signed the agreement in recognition of the GIANTS’ growing importance to Parramatta and the significant efforts the club has made to engage the local community.

Lord Mayor of Parramatta Cr Scott Lloyd said: “Parramatta City Council is very proud of our standing as the sporting capital of Western Sydney and by working together with these great sporting organisations we are able to combine our resources and achieve outcomes that will benefit not only Council and its partners, but our entire community.”
