The GIANTS have welcomed the New South Wales Government's recent announcement of a Light Rail network better connecting Sydney Olympic Park with other major hubs around Western Sydney.

The rail network, which will significantly improve public access to major western Sydney events, will link the employment, business and residential precincts of Westmead, Parramatta, Rosehill and Carlingford.

GIANTS Chief Executive Officer David Matthews said connecting the network with Sydney Olympic Park – the site of the GIANTS’ Life Learning Centre and home ground Spotless Stadium – would have long-lasting benefits for people living in Western Sydney.

“This is terrific news for GIANTS fans as this initiative will boost access to events in the Sydney Olympic Park precinct, including GIANTS home games at Spotless Stadium,” Matthews said.

“It will also have broader benefits such as creating more jobs and more affordable housing which ultimately creates a stronger local economy.

“Investing in transport is vital and this network will open up new areas of the west and create more opportunities for business.

“We support anything that positively impacts the wider western Sydney community and this project certainly meets that objective."

The GIANTS first threw their support behind the Light Rail Network proposal in June, advocating for Sydney Olympic Park to be included in the NSW Government's plans.
